New FlyQ Online (ATLAS) Version Released

We’ve made a major update to FlyQ Online (previously called ATLAS) just in time for your OSH flight planning.

This new release dramatically speeds up map redraws, makes rubber-banding a flight plan vastly easier, and adds virtually all the previously “undone” flight planning features:

• CHANGED: Rubber-banding now works from any point on the line (not just the midpoints)
• CHANGED: Faster map redraws because the photo background layer is supressed for other chart types
• ADDED: +FP buttons now work
• ADDED: Double-tap the map over a point on your flight plan gives options to delete the point or show info about it
• ADDED: Reverse flight plan now works
• ADDED: Email flight plan now works
• FIXED: Error when generating printed flight plans

The new +FP (Add to Flight Plan) feature deserves special mention:

+FP  is a button that adds a specific airport, navaid, or fix to your flight plan.  It’s available in many places including from the Search results list on the left side of the screen (shown above), from double-tapping anywhere on the Map, and from the info page for a specific airport.

+FP is also interesting because it makes adding a new point very, very easy.  When clicked, you can choose to add the new point to the start of the flight plan, the end of the flight, or have FlyQ Online automatically figure out where to add it.  The “Auto Add” feature is unique to FlyQ Online.  In FlyQ EFB, you have to specifically tell the app where to add the new point.  In FlyQ Online, the system calculates the most rational place to add the new point without you having to do any work.  Of course, if you don’t like where the system adds it, you can always rubber-band the flight plan instead of using +FP.

As a reminder, we’ve been making a lot of changes to FlyQ Online recently as it approaches formal release (that is, loses the “beta” tag).  If you haven’t used it in some time, have a look!
