Second FlyQ EFB 4.0 / FlyQ Online 2.0 Presentation Added for Tuesday Due to Exceptional Demand

We’re about to announce and demonstrate FlyQ EFB 4.0 and FlyQ Online 2.0, collectively known as “Red Barn,” during a live streaming presentation I’m giving on Monday, Nov 19.

However, we have far more people registered for the Monday presentation than the system will allow to attend (more than 2x!) so we added a second live FlyQ EFB 4.0 / FlyQ Online 2.0 presentation for the next day, Tuesday, November 20.  The material will be essentially the same so there is no reason to attend both but we do recommend signing up for the Tuesday presentation if you are already registered for Monday in case the Monday presentation fills up before you log on.  Also, to help some people, the Tuesday presentation will be at 3 PM Pacific rather than Monday’s 4 PM Pacific start time.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.  And, as always, we will make every attempt to record the presentation and put it on YouTube but, technology being what it is, we can’t guarantee that.

  1. Any chance Red Barn (or better yet the current release) will add support for the
    ForeFlight Sentry ADS-B Receiver? I really like the idea of having a carbon monoxide detector built it to a device like this. I’m currently using the Stratus 2 with FlyQ.

    • I don’t want to discuss anything about Red Barn yet .. but … We’d love to support the Sentry but the maker has decided to lock it into ForeFlight for now so we cannot. This same sort of situation happened when the Stratus folks locked the Stratus receivers to ForeFlight but they later changed their minds and opened it up so FlyQ EFB can work with the Stratus 3 perfectly. The Sentry is made by a different company than the Stratus so I have no idea what they may do in the future. This is why it’s always best to invest in devices that work with everything (which basically means every ADS-B system on the market except the Pilot, Sentry, and Garmin devices).

  2. Will the presentation be recorded and made available for us that signed up early and took time out of our day to be a part of it only to get closed out? Tuesday is already booked.

  3. Steve, I still would like Weight & Balance built into the system. It is very important and if it is a part of the checklist in FlyQ, it enhances safety feature/awareness.

    • Hi Jim. Well it would be great to do that but the business case just isn’t there. While Android certainly outsells iOS in general, that is not true when you look at just pilots (keep in mind we made FlyQ Pocket for both iOS and Android and the iOS version was 8 times more popular!). The development cost, the testing cost, and dealing with all the different flavors of Android software and hardware just make it a tough business case to make. This is esp. true now that iPads are much less expensive. The $329 iPad (more or less what I use) is extremely powerful and fantastic for FlyQ. Wish I had better news but the fact is that many happy Android users kinda hold their nose, walk into an Apple store, and come out with a device they plan to only use while flying.

  4. The new FlyQ for the iPad and the online version of the planner (and now log!) look great. Any idea when we should expect to get it? I didn’t see any planned release dates.

    • Hi Bryan. Sorry I was on vacation. V4 is finally almost ready. It was a lot more work than we expected but is really slick. We should get at least a beta out in April, hopefully the real deal.
