Seattle Avionics joins AFV Partners’ group of aviation companies to accelerate new FlyQ features and to expand the geographic coverage and depth of our ChartData offerings

Argyle, TX/ Woodinville, Wash. – September 14, 2020 – AFV  Partners LLC (“AFV Partners”) has acquired Seattle Avionics (“Seattle Avionics”), a leading provider of general aviation applications, FAA-certified and geo-referenced charts and flight data, and augmented reality (AR) technology, from its founders. Terms of the transaction, which closed on September 3, 2020, were not disclosed.

Seattle Avionics was co-founded in 2002 by John Rutter and Steve Podradchik with the mission to offer an affordable yet technologically advanced and easy-to-use flight application for the general aviation market. • Hi Ed. Thanks for the kind words. To answer your question a bit obliquely — Yes I have a very good sense of some really amazing things planned for FlyQ in terms of features almost ready to go now (unrelated to the acquisition) and those to expect soon based on the people, $, and technology we can now leverage from our new sister companies. But … I cannot discuss these plans now. The folllow-up post and email to all customers should shed a little more light on why we’re so excited about being part of AFV.

  1. Hi Steve, Hope the sale and new association, and new position works for you.  I did not read what happens to my lifetime subscription or any other changes I can expect to the services I’m used to with Seattle Avionics.  Maybe another email to existing customers might be appropriate. Best of luck,Tom Piscitello

    • Hi Tom,

Yup, you should have received an email a little while ago that basically says your Lifetime subscription is safe. We simply weren’t able to get this post made and the emails sent out at exactly the same time. Sorry for any confusion. We also did a second blog post that contains the same info as the email.

  2. Hope it works out. Love the FlyQ product. I’ll admit, though, that this almost comically corporate statement, loaded with PR pablum and buzzwords, leaves me skeptical…

    • Ha! Yes, I see your point. But you may want to read the more “human” post titled “Open Letter…” . it’s also in your inbox. Basically AFV is run by a man named Tony Aquila who has an amazing track record in changing the way whole industries work. Now he’s working to do his magic in aviation. See: https://www.afvpartners.com/TonyAquila/ We are VERY excited about the future with his help and the help of our new sister companies.

  4. Hey Steve, Congrats!
I’m wondering the same thing as Tom & Fernando. Any idea what happens to our Lifetime subscriptions, for both chart data and FlyQ?

  5. Congratulations Seattle Avionics team! Looking forward to new software additions, but I hope the transition doesn’t affect lifetime subscribers in a negative way. I was a lifetime subscriber for Voyager (no longer supported), and now for FlyQ, hope there isn’t a third time in the near future. Thank you Steve, wish Seattle Avionics the best.

    • Negative! Did you see the very specific comment about that in the post? You should also have the same text via email in your inbox. Our Lifetime customers are very important to us and we appreciate all your support over the years. John and I made that very clear to AFV during the negotiations.
